interpreting Your InBody Scan
Your InBody Composition Analysis includes a data point called ‘Basal Metabolic Rate’ (BMR). It is on the top right of the Inbody sheet. This number is a measure of the number of calories that your body consumes when at rest each day.
BMR measures the efficiency of your body’s processing of foods. The rate increases as muscle mass increases, which, in effect, means that the more muscle you carry, the more food you can eat without gaining weight.
Although this is not without nuance, as a healhy balanced diet, and limiting intake of certian food groups, such as sugars, is key, BMR is a strong indicator of your overall health and your body’s capability to process food efficiently without leading to fat gain.
How to Calculate Daily Caloric Need from BMR
To utilize BMR to support your lifestyle, you must calculate your general daily caloric need. To do so, you can use our handy total caloric need calculator (below), and target roughly within 250 calories above or below this number daily:
Protein’s Role in Nutrition
Protein is the building block of muscle, and the body needs sufficient protein intake daily to both maintian and build muscle. A good measure for a healthy person is to aim for 1 - 1.25 grams of protein per 1lb of body weight daily. For those who are overweight, aiming for between 0.75 - 1 gram of protein per 1lb of body weight daily is a good target.
If you are not actively seeking to change your body composition as part of your treatment, this is also perfectly fine. Many men enjoy the physical and mental wellbeing benefits of our treatment programs without the desire or drive to embark on a fitness journey.
Our goal is to help you reach your goals! Share your health goals with your provider and we will help you get there!
Additional Information on How to Interpret Your InBody Results
InBody Composition Analysis is a great tool to help monitor physical health status and progress. Clients complete InBody analysis in conjunction with lab reviews, so you will complete several InBody scans in sync with each set of labs reviews.
The combination of Weight, Skeletal Muscle Mass, and Body Fat Mass displayed in the central section of your results sheet are the best indicator of your overall health. The results take on three different shapes.
The ‘C’ Shape represents a greater level of fat versus muscle for body weight, and is the least healthy of the three composition.
The ‘I’ Shape represents an even level of fat and muscle, and is (as we expect you could guess!), an average body composition.
The ‘D’ Shape represents a great er level of muscle mass versus fat for body weight, and is the healthiest of the shapes.
If you are seeking to gain muscle mass and lose body fat (which is a pretty common goal set for those on a health journey!), your TRT program can be a catalyst to fat loss and development of muscularity, and is a strongly complimentary therapy to fitness goals.
